Was Tate really two weeks overdue? (And I could also write a whole post on the idiosyncracies of the term overdue!)
No. I don't think so.
There are things that you can look for to tell if a baby is past term. Tate didn't have vernix or lanugo (which my other babies did), but he also didn't have a lot of dry, wrinkled skin. The lines on his feet were term lines. He was my heaviest baby at 7'3oz, but not dramatically heavier, and my weight was essentially the same as when I delivered the others. Factoring everything together, the midwife estimates his age at 39-40 weeks. Term! Healthy and fully ready.
Conclusion: when basing dates soley on LMP, there is quite a bit of room for error. Ultrasounds do not accurately fix dates. Babies do not necessarily come when their siblings did. BUT. . God CAN be trusted!
