I was reading about high fructose corn syrup and WHY it is to be avoided. Basically, it is neither fructose nor corn syrup, but is a synthetic form of sweetener. It is one of the cheapest ingredients that manufacturers can add to food, henceforth we can find it in everything. (Plantars peanuts and Claussen pickles!) The FDA at one point (it actually might have been before they had the official FDA title) banned high fructose corn syrup. Due to pressure from food manufacturers and others, the ban was lifted, and today it is hard to find products that don't have high fructose corn syrup (or HFCS) in their label.
Buyer beware! This is NOT a healthy sugar to consume!
(Let me know if you enjoy this kind of post. It's for the "body" part of my blog. .. Part of my passion of taking care of our bodies is reading the wealth of information out there and then passing along little nuggets. I just haven't had much time to process beyond the daily!)

It is pretty crazy what the food industry can get away with in their foods! Just tonight, Jason grabbed this CapriSun box thinking it was thier 100% juice one, but when I looked at the ingredients, the second one is HFCS! And he said that he saw on the front of the box where it said loaded with antioxidants and vitamins, and I said, "Yea, and chemicals, which would totally contradict the antioxidant factor!" Amazing!
This is why people need to remember how to cook! The convenience of the modern world has shipped away at our health and happiness. Not only with the inferior and cheaper products, but the way we spend our time as well. It doesnt take long to make a healthy meal for your family to enjoy . A you need is a little planning. Happy eating!
