41 Weeks, Perhaps

Well, other pregnant bloggers have posted pictures. I decided several months ago that I would not need to (or want to!) post a photo of my pregnant self. . . but who knew I would be so pregnant and need something to blog about?! Ha. Anyway, this is my reality right now. Today marks 41 weeks pregnant.

A note about dates: my midwife and I suspected the due date (Aug 7) was incorrect from the beginning. That date is based upon my period, as all due dates are established. Did you know that a German obstetrician around 1800 established that pregnancy should last about 280 days, or 10 lunar months? It's actually 288 days for most females, and even 3 days longer than that for subsequent pregancies. And if you have a very long cycle, and ovulate later than the 14th day (which I did), then your date would need to be adjusted accordingly. And since I never had a sonogram to establish a due date, the original date from my LMP stayed. (And did you know that sonograms do not accurately establish dates, either? Only the early ultrasounds seem to be reliable.) See, I'm learning so much! And all this is just to say that we do not KNOW when the actual due date should be. Of course, no one really knows when their baby will come at all. We just grasp to understand God's mysteries.

Genesis 18:25- "Shall not the judge of all the earth do right?"

Great picture--thanks for posting it! And it is good to know that maybe you're not really as late as the original due date makes it looks like you are. I'm praying for perseverance for you!!
